The Celesta for large concert halls
5 ½ octaves of heavenly sound
This exceptional celesta instrument was developed by Schiedmayer especially for the large concert halls and opera houses of the world. Due to its large-scale resonators, wide and heavy sound plates arranged uniquely side by side (juxtaposed), this model is unparalleled in volume and carries even the most delicate and quiet sounds to the very back corners of any concert hall.
Like all Schiedmayer celestas, this model is distinguished by its very light, balanced touch and the characteristic complex, overtone-rich sound of the celesta. This instrument is capable of the finest nuances from a soft pianissimo to a strong forte and is therefore very popular with contemporary and film composers around the world.
The design of this model allows for an exceptionally rich and warm sound, particularly in the low register. The complete repertoire of the celesta (also called “celeste instrument”) can be performed on the 5 ½ octave model.

“As a composer, producer, engineer, and recording artist, my entire career has been devoted to bringing music to life through unique and signature sounds. Ever since my first album release on Atlantic records, I have been traveling the world collecting and recording instruments from all genres of music. From the moment I discovered a Schiedmayer celeste, I was transfixed. The hypnotic universe that is created from playing this remarkable instrument is beyond description. It is a completely transportive experience that inspires and invites you on vast musical journeys. The richness, subtlety and intimacy, the precision of the tone, and especially the feel of the instrument is unrivaled. Without question, I consider my Schiedmayer 5 1/2 Octave studio celeste an essential part of my writing and recording process.”
